West Lake Loop
The West Lake Loop is a 5.3 km lollipop hiking route within Wells Gray Provincial Park that meanders through the forest to visit several waterfalls. Along the trail, you will hike alongside the Clearwater River and experience views overlooking Bailey’s Chute, the Marcus Waterfalls, and the Myanth Falls before working through an amazing forest setting to pass by the West Lake. This trail is packed full of highlights and is fairly easy to traverse, making it suitable for hikers of most skill levels.

Route Description for West Lake Loop
Hiking the West Lake Loop is a breathtaking experience with an amazing forest landscape and viewpoints overlooking three different waterfalls that make it easy to find something for everyone on this outdoor adventure. The trail sets out from the parking lot and crosses over the road before entering into the dense canopy of the forest. After a short distance, you will come to a fork in the trail that you should follow to the left on a route that runs closely alongside the powerful Clearwater River. Along the hike, you will be guided by the roaring river, as you make your way past a series of viewing points looking out over Bailey’s Chute and the Marcus Waterfalls. Continuing further along the trail, you will reach its northernmost point at the cascading waters of Myanth Falls. After taking in the views, continue along the trail as it turns to the south east to lead you through the forest and past the calm waters of West Lake, on the return journey to the trailhead.
Getting to the West Lake Loop Trailhead
To reach the parking area for the West Lake Loop from Clearwater, drive north along Clearwater Valley Road for 56.6 km, and you will find the parking lot on the right.
