Sheep Lake Trail

Sheep Lake Trail is a 6.3 km easy trail in Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest that is suitable for quick day trips or for easy backpacking trips. You can also use this trail to continue on to Sourdough Gap or explore some of the plentiful spur trails. Expect moderate traffic on this hike.

Route Description for Sheep Lake Trail
Sheep Lake Trail is a fairly easy hike that takes you underneath Deadwood Peak to a cute lake in the mountains. The route follows a portion of the PCT. The Sheep Lake Trail sits near the border with Mount Rainier National Park, so you’ll enjoy the summer wildflowers so renowned in the park on this hike.
Begin from the trailhead, hiking parallel to the highway for a stretch. The elevation gain is very gradual. The trail pulls away from the road and meanders towards Sheep Lake, losing a bit of elevation. You can look all the way around Sheep Lake before retracing your steps or finding a good spot to set up your tent.

The trailhead for the Sheep Lake Trail is off Mather Memorial Parkway in a parking loop.
