Pika’s Traverse to Whistler Mountain

Pika’s Traverse to Whistler Mountain is a moderately trafficked out-and-back route that travels up some fairly steep terrain on the way to some amazing panoramic views from the peak. Experience clear sightlines east to Blackcomb Peak, south to Cheakamus Lake, and north down to Whistler Village below. This is an excellent hike if you are looking for a bit of a workout to accompany the stunning scenery available from Whistler Mountain.

Route Description for Pika’s Traverse to Whistler Mountain
Pika’s Traverse to Whistler Mountain is a popular trail that climbs uphill from the Roundhouse Lodge to the top of the peak. Portions of this trail are fairly steep, so proper hiking footwear is highly recommended while climbing the iconic peak. After making your way up the gondola, set out from the lodge on Pika’s Traverse, climbing uphill and skirting around Whistler Glacier to reach Matthew’s Traverse. From here, make your way up to the peak to enjoy gorgeous 360° views that overlook the entirety of the landscape around Whistler. When you’ve wrapped up your time atop Whistler Mountain, make your way back down the same trail to the Roundhouse Lodge where you began your hike.
Getting to the Pika’s Traverse to Whistler Mountain Trailhead
To get to the Pika’s Traverse trailhead from Green Lake, make your way south on BC-99 S to enter Whistler Village. Make a left turn onto Nancy Green Dr and a right turn after 180 m onto Blackcomb Way. Stay on Blackcomb Way for 1.3 km to find the parking lot on your left. From here, use the gondola to make your way up to the Roundhouse Lodge to reach the trailhead.
