Route Description for Popo Agie Falls Trail
Short, scenic, and simple, the Popo Agie Falls Hike is ideal for novice hikers and families with young kids. With little elevation gain compared to most hikes in the region, this route boasts a relaxing experience while offering incredible mountain views. Note much the terrain is rocky, so make sure you wear some sturdy footwear and be mindful of your footing! Though this route is scenic year-round, the spring offers the best scenery as the cascades surge during peak run-off season.
When you are ready, set out on your adventure from the trailhead in Bruce’s Parking Area. From here, take the Middle Fork Trail heading southwest along the meandering Middle Popo Agie River. Bound by the craggy limestone walls, you will be rewarded with scenes of the Winds at the end of the corridor in the west. Admire the scenery as you progress along the trail, and you will eventually reach an intersection.
Here, veer left, and you will be quickly delivered to the Middle Fork Falls. Enjoy the scene of the mesmerizing cascades billowing down the rocky canyon. Snap a few photos of the beautiful scenery, then head back the way you came to the trailhead.
