Firehole Falls via the Little Firehole Trail is a beautiful, long hike in Yellowstone National Park. This trail can either be done as a big day hike or broken up over a couple of days by camping at Firehole Falls. With lovely forest views, lively streams, and magical waterfalls, this trail has something for everyone.
Route Description for Firehole Falls via the Little Firehole Trail
The hike to Firehole Falls via the Little Firehole Trail is a beautiful route in Yellowstone National Park. This 10.0mi long trail is moderately challenging with a few steep sections. Hikers should arrive prepared with proper, supportive hiking footwear and plenty of water and snacks to fuel their adventure. Hiking poles can be a great asset on this trail to aid in the ascent and save your knees some strain on the way back down. With so much to explore, this trail really is the perfect way to spend quality time discovering the beauty and wonder of Yellowstone National Park. Beginning at the Biscuit Basin trailhead, cross over the Firehole River and follow the Mystic Falls Trail west along the Little Firehole River to Mystic Falls themselves. This is a good spot to catch your breath and snap some photos before heading up the switchbacks and away from the crowds. Just past Mystic Falls, the trail will divide. At this divide, take the path on your left and follow the Fairy Creek Little Firehole Trail west to Firehole Falls. Enjoy your time at Firehole Falls. When you are ready to head home, simply retrace your steps back to the Biscuit Basin Trailhead, where you began.Getting to the Firehole Falls via the Little Firehole Trail Trailhead
From the Old Faithful Visitor Center, follow Grand Loop Road north for 2.0mi to the Biscuit Basin Trailhead on the left side of the road. The hike to Firehole Falls via the Little Firehole Trail begins here.Route Information
