Route Description for Lily Pad Lake via Artist’s Point
Lily Pad Lake via Artist’s Point is a beautiful trail that is fun for the whole family. Although this hike is short, it does have some steep sections, so be sure to wear proper hiking footwear and be prepared for a bit of a climb. Bring lots of water and lots of snacks for everyone in your hiking party to make your adventure the best it can be. You will also want to pack the camera; with five different viewpoints on the trail, the hike to Lily Pad Lake is stunning at every turn.
Beginning at the Artist’s Point Trailhead, follow the path east along the trail overlooking the Yellowstone River. Approximately 1.0 km in, take the path on your right to head south to Lily Lake.
Enjoy an afternoon on the shores of Lily Lake. When you are ready to head home, simply retrace your steps back to the Artist’s Point Trailhead where you began.
Getting to the Lily Pad Lake via Artist’s Point Trailhead
This trail begins at Artist’s Point Trailhead at the eastern end of South Rim Drive in central Yellowstone National Park.
