Route Description for North Rim Trail to Red Rock Point, Lookout Point and Grand View

The North Rim Trail to Red Rock Point, Lookout Point, and Grand View is a fantastic hike in Yellowstone. This does have one steep section that is not accessible via wheelchair and is not stroller-friendly. If you are a wheelchair user or struggle with mobility, skip the short hike down to Red Rock Point. If you are going down to Red Rock Point, we strongly recommend bringing along your hiking poles for this section, especially if you have knee pain or joint issues. Fair warning, this trail does get very busy, especially in the summertime. If you are visiting Yellowstone at the height of tourist season, check out this trail early in the day to beat the crowds. This route, however, is popular for a reason. With incredible views of the Lower Falls and Yellowstone Canyon, this trail is breathtaking at every turn.

Beginning at the Brink of the Lower Falls Trailhead, follow the path northeast along the rim of the canyon. Stop at each of the various viewpoints on route. Approximately half a mile in, the trail will divide. Take the path on your right to hike down and back to Red Rock Point. Continue on the left-hand path to Lookout Point and Grand View.

At Grand View, take in the vistas one more time before turning around and retracing your steps back to the trailhead where you began.
