Route Description for Rainbow Falls Trail
The Rainbow Falls Trail is a rugged and adventurous route in the Wyoming backcountry. This route does not follow an established or maintained trail. Hikers need to be prepared for bushwhacking and creative route finding. We strongly recommend downloading or printing a map of the trail before heading out on your hike. The 17 m tall Rainbow Falls are breathtaking, but the trail is not for the faint of heart. If you are up for the challenge, you will likely earn a spot at Rainbow Falls all to yourself.
To hike to Rainbow Falls, begin at the parking area along Grassy Lakes Road and then forge your own trail directly north to the bank of the Fall River. Rainbow Falls won’t come into view until you reach the river bank.
Enjoy your time at Rainbow Falls. Then, when you are ready to head home, simply retrace your steps back to the parking area where you began.
Getting to the Rainbow Falls Trail Trailhead
This hike begins on the north side of Grassy Lake Road, just 2.7 km west of the Cascade Creek Trailhead.
