This is an exceptional route for casual walkers to try their hand at a longer trail.

    Route Description for Newfield Hall to Malham Cove Walk

    Covering a fair amount of ground across the Yorkshire Dales, the Newfield Hall to Malham Cove Walk is a beautifully scenic adventure that will showcase the undulating terrain that makes this region so special. With historical sites like the 19th Century Newfield Hall and natural ones, such as the impressive limestone horseshoe of Malham Cove, this is a route that is packed full of interesting highlights.

    Setting out from the car park, take some time to appreciate the grandeur of the grounds and stone construction of Newfield Hall, before following the road to the northwest. Just as you approach the River Aire, pick up the footpath on the right and follow the winding banks of the river to the north. Reaching a bridge over the river, head west and cross over to the opposite bank, following the road as it leads you through the village of Kirkby Malham. If you are so inclined, you can pop into The Victoria pub for some mid-walk drinks.

    From here, continue north across the undulating landscape and pass through Malham, following the edge of the water until you arrive at the imposing rock wall known as Malham Cove. After marvelling at this awesome sight, you will turn back along the trail and pass back through Malham, following along the east bank of the River Aire until you arrive back at the trailhead where you started.

    To reach the trailhead for the newfield Hall to Malham Cove Walk from Gargrave, drive north on Eshton Road for 1.4 km and continue straight for another 4.0 km, turning right to arrive at the car park at Newfield Hall.
