The Reeth to Arkengarthdale Walk is a magical journey through the valleys and along the River Arkle. Explore the beauty of the English countryside as you wander along this path and the valley of Arkengarthdale. This path is a heart-pumping trek, so make sure you are prepared to get some exercise.
Route Description for Reeth to Arkengarthdale Walk
The Reeth and Arkengarthdale Walk is a beautiful stroll full of scenic landscapes; however, it can provide a challenge for some inexperienced walkers. There is a steep climb in the beginning, so ensure you are prepared for this. This path boasts wonderful views of the surrounding area and of Yorkshire Dales National Park. Following the path, you will come across streams, pastures, the valley of Arkengarthdale, and the small village of Reeth. Beginning in the car park, head towards Arkle Beck. Following this path, you will face a steep climb as you head toward the top of Arkengarthdale. As you reach the top, you will be met with captivating views of the English countryside that span across for miles. As you continue along the path, you will come across a rushing small stream and views out to Fremington Edge. From here, you can see expansive views of the North York Moors and Roseberry Topping as well as Swaledale in the distance. These stunning views last for almost two miles as you walk along Fremington Edge, following the path, where you will find yourself passing the town of Langthwaite. Take your time exploring this magical place and then continue on towards Arkle Town. This is a spectacular small town that you can explore. Making your way back to the main path, continue to follow the markers, passing Thorndale Wood. Moving along, you will arrive back at the car park where you began, as this is a circuit walk. Getting to the Reeth to Arkengarthdale Walk Trailhead
To get to the Reeth to Arkengarthdale Walk from head north on B6270 toward Silver Street and continue onto Arkengarthdale Road. Continue onto Raw Bank, and after 2.8mi, turn right. Take your first right and after 0.2mi, turn left. In 0.4mi, turn left, and then after 0.8mi you will arrive at your destination.Route Information
