Itinerary for 8-Day Kyrgyzstan Cycling Tour
Explore Bishkek
After your arrival in Bishkek, you will meet at the airport and transfer to your hotel. After heading to a restaurant for lunch, you will take a city tour in the center of Bishkek, visiting the Kyrgyz bazaar, the main Ala-Too Square, and the Frunze Museum. Walk along Oak Park to the open art gallery of Sculptures and visit the Manas Sculpture, before taking a walk along the alley of the youth next to Philharmonic Hall. Dinner and overnight stay in the hotel.
First Stage of Cycling to Kyzyl-Oi Village
In the morning, you will transfer by minibus over Too-Ashuu Pass to reach the Susamyr Valley (170 km of driving). Here, at the junction of the Karakol and Susamyr Rivers, you will start cycling to Kyzyl-Oi village (30 km of cycling), where a well-maintained gravel road follows along the beautiful Kokomeren River. Upon arrival at Kyzyl-Oi village, you will have dinner and an overnight stay in family run accommodations.
Follow the Kokomeren and Aral Rivers
Continue cycling along Kokomeren River through an area famous for its interesting clay rock formation. After 25 km on a good gravel road, you will come to the Aral River, and from here take a road to Chaek village (20 km), enjoying a picnic on the banks of Aral river. Upon arrival to Chaek village, you will have dinner and an overnight stay in family run accommodations.
Cycle to Son-Kul Lake
Today you will transfer by bus to the Kara-Keche gorge (50 km). From here, today’s cycling will begin on the way to Son-Kul Lake. The road will take you up to Kara-Keche Pass (15 km) and from there will descend to a yurt camp on Son-Kul Lake (30 km). Dinner and overnight in yurt camp.
Cycle the Kalmak-Ashuu Pass to Kochkor Village
Cycling from the yurt camp along Son-Kul Lake, you will arrive at the top of Kalmak- Ashuu Pass after 45km. From this windy pass, make your way down a serpentine path to the waiting bus (10 km). From here, transfer by bus to Kochkor village (70 km). Dinner and overnight in a small guesthouse.
Workshop Visit and Kemin Valley
In the morning you will visit a workshop, where you can see the process of felt carpet production. After this, transfer along the Orto-Tokoi water reservoir to Chon-Kemin Valley. Lunch upon arrival in the guesthouse.
In the afternoon there are several options to spend your time: either cycling to Jashyl-Kol Lake (around 22 km one way) or taking a horse riding excursion to a panorama of the Kemin Valley. After, you will experience the national horse riding games and a traditional bakery. Dinner and overnight in a guesthouse.
Transfer from Kemin to Bishkek
After breakfast, you will transfer to Bishkek (150 km). Along the way, you will visit historical sites along the Great Silk Road , such as the Burana Tower (11th Century) and the remains of Karakhanid’s Empire in Central Asia. In the evening, you will have dinner in a local restaurant and have the option to view a folklore show. Accommodation in the hotel.
Departure Day
Day 8 will be the final day of your Kyrgyzstan Cycling Tour. After breakfast, you will transfer from Bishkek to the airport to say goodbye to the ancient wonders of the silk road.
