Itinerary for Condoriri and Tuni Trek
Arrival in La Paz & Laguna Ajwani
You’ve made it to Bolivia! You’ll be whisked from the airport to Laguna Khotia, which is at the southern end of the Cordillera Real. Get ready to start hiking- you’ll begin on the trail that leads to Chiarkhota Lake before heading up to Contador Pass. Here, you’ll get your first view of the surrounding peaks, which are incredible. Cross back down past a swamp and head to Ajwani Lake, where you’ll make camp for the night.
Trek to Laguna Jurikhota
Day 2 begins with breakfast before it’s time to break camp and head up to Milluni Pass. Here, the summit of Huyana Potosi seems almost close enough to touch! You’ll head down to Sistana Lake, and then up to the Janchallani Pass. Here, the view of Condoriri is about as good as it can get. You’ll then hike down into Jurikhota Lake, which is nestled into a valley. Enjoy dinner and relax for the evening.
Trek to Laguna Chiarkhota
Waking up to the mountains never gets old, does it? After breakfast, take down your tent and prepare to climb up to Congelada Lake, which is pure magic. The mountains reflect in the crystal-clear water, and it’s a simply stunning sight! Enjoy the view before heading to Austria Pass, where you have the option of playing around on some scree before it’s time to head to Chiarkhota Lake. This serves as the basecamp for a few different climbs in the area, and it’ll also serve as your camp tonight.
Transfer to Tuni and Huayna Potosi
Today, give the legs a break while you’re driven to the Campo canal. Then, your hike begins by heading up to Laguna Glacier and Huyana Potosi. It’s an incredibly scenic climb, and very impressive to be right at the foot of the western face of the mountain. Head to Tuni for the night and enjoy sleeping in a real bed again!
Exploring Tuni
If your legs are feeling a little stiff after all that hiking, today’s going to be a treat for you. After a traditional breakfast of Andean donuts and purple corn juice, you’ll enjoy a yoga session. Feeling more limber, it’s time to tend to the llamas and harvest crops. Lunch will be prepared together using a traditional underground oven with hot stones, and then you’ll have the afternoon to explore the community. Music will accompany dinner and you can listen to folklore and fables before heading to bed at the end of the night.
Yoga session and drive to La Paz for departure
Sadly, it’s time to head home. Enjoy another yoga session before packing up and departing for La Paz after lunch. So long!
