Right in the centre of Piedmont wine country, the “city of a thousand towers” welcomes you with medieval history and can’t-miss sightseeing. Cobblestone streets lead to tempting bakeries and sweet shops.
Your self-guided tour of the Piedmont wine country begins with a morning transfer to Barolo, where a stellar wine museum awaits inside a striking castle. After you sip and sample, the easily followed Bar to Bar route leads you to the village of Novello. Admire the lovely scenery before arriving in Monforte, where old-fashioned stone houses line narrow streets. Choose one of the many delicious restaurants to enjoy Italy’s fine food and wine with a picturesque hillside view.
A morning stroll takes you to the quaint hamlet of Serralunga d’Alba, where unique clay hillside frames rows of grape vines. Continuing on to Roddino finds you in a lunch spot with 360-degree views. Complete your walk by arriving at the nature-surrounded farm setting of Cissone.
A morning transfer from Cissone to Bossolaschetto transports you right into the heart of nature. This portion of your Piedmont walking tour takes you down to the flowing River Balbo. Then, a short climb up the opposite ridge rewards you with marvellous views of the Alps. Finally, walk through the forest to pass through several small towns before arriving for the evening in Cravanzana.
Next up on your walking tour from Barolo to Barbaresco, a relaxed day first leads from Cravanzana down to the River Balbo before ascending gently towards Montemarino. Stunning views of The Appenine mountains, the Alps, and the Lower Langa await.
Departing the Hamlet of Benevello, you’ll once again take the Bar to Bar route on the way to Nieve. The gently sloping hillside features large farms and vineyards, and the occasional dip into the forest makes the view of the Alps that much more exciting when you re-emerge.
The last adventure of your Piedmont walking tour starts in the serene country town of Neive before strolling through country filled with vineyards. The same incredible mountain view is visible until you descend towards the River Tanaro, where you’ll be enveloped in lush forest until your arrival in Alba.
Enjoy a final breakfast in Alba before departure to the airport marks the end of your Piedmont Barolo to Barbaresco walking tour. Arrivederci!
