Pedal the 4 Rivers Bike Trail

This morning your first day of cycling commences on a section of the impressive 633 km cross-country 4 Rivers Bike Trail.

The day kicks off with a ride in the support vehicle from your accommodations to Gwangnaru Park, where you’ll then pick up the Hangang Section of the trail, riding 80 km from Gwangnaru to Yeoju.

While in Yeoju, you’ll explore the Silleuksa Temple from the Silla Dynasty, a rare ancient sanctuary perched on a riverbank surrounded by breathtaking scenery.

Today you’ll enjoy a pleasant, leisurely ride as you trace the river to Chungju. The mostly flat terrain on today’s trail will allow you to soak up the gorgeous rural scenery as you pedal alongside apple orchards and small farms.

A short stop at the 7-story Jungangtap Park breaks the ride up before you continue to Suanbo. Once in Suanboa, soak those tired legs in the village hot springs, known for having healing alkaline properties.

Today’s ride is one of the most challenging of the tour, taking you over Sojoryeong and Ihwaryeong Passes. Steep climbs are rewarded with thrilling descents and stunning mountain scenery. Along the way, you’ll pass the Mungyeong Ceramic Museum, showcasing Korea’s rich pottery tradition. The ride then follows a mostly flat riverside path into Sangju, where you’ll spend the night.
