The Fuschlsee serves as the starting point of this tour and here there is the first opportunity for a refreshing swim. Enjoy the cultural and scenic attractions of the region: the Wartenfels ruins, the Blinklingmoos nature reserve and the Koppenbrüller cave are just a few of the great stage points.
Be active and bring body and mind into harmony - hiking is a great way to switch off and recharge your batteries. Speaking of which: You need strength for the tours and therefore culinary delights must not be neglected. A hearty snack on the alpine pasture, laced hiking boots and off you go!

Arrival in Fuschl
Arrive at Fuschl, from where you journey will begin.
Fuschl to Lake Mondsee
Step by step you ascend to the Wartenfels ruins, where stunning views over the Mondsee and Irrsee lakes await. Those seeking a greater challenge can continue up to the Schober peak, rewarded with a sweeping panorama of the Salzkammergut’s lakes and surrounding mountains.
Lake Mondsee via Lake Attersee to Lake Wolfgangsee
In the morning, a bus takes you to Unterach on Lake Attersee. From here, follow the lakeside path and the Burggrabenklamm gorge up to the alpine meadows surrounding the idyllic Schwarzensee. Take a break at Lore’s lakeside hut for homemade pastries before continuing downhill all the way to Lake Wolfgangsee.
Lake Wolfgangsee to Ausseerland
Take the bus to Bad Ischl, where your hike begins. Following the historic brine pipeline trail, you head into the Rettenbach Valley and continue upward to the Blaa Alp alpine pasture at the foot of the Loser massif, entering the heart of the Ausseerland region.
Ausseerland to Hallstatt
Following the banks of the River Traun, the trail leads you to Bad Aussee, a classic summer retreat, before continuing into the wild and idyllic Koppental Valley, where the Koppenbrüller caves await. From here, a boat carries you to the UNESCO-listed town of Hallstatt, rich with historic charm and scenic highlights.
Hallstatt to Gosau
Ride the cable car up the Salzberg to the famous Skywalk, where sweeping views set the tone for the day. Continue past the historic salt mine and onto the alpine pastures, crossing the plateau to reach Löckermoos. The Bibelschmugglerweg trail then leads you down to Lake Gosau, its waters mirroring the imposing Dachstein glacier. It’s well worth pausing for a snack along the shore before catching the bus into the Gosau Valley.
Gosau to Fuschl
From Gosau, the trail leads through forest paths and past the Iglmoos alp to the Goiserer Alpine Club Hut, perched on a ridge with sweeping views over the Goiserer Valley and Lake Hallstatt. If you’re up for it, you can extend the hike with a summit climb to Hochkalmberg, home to the striking rock formation known as the “Steinerner Indianer.” The route then descends through the Kesselgraben and follows the Schüttbach River down to Bad Goisern on Lake Hallstatt, where a bus takes you onward to Fuschl am See.
