Today, you leave the Venetian Lagoon behind and head towards the serene Po River Delta. Cycle along peaceful levee roads, surrounded by lush landscapes and an abundance of wildlife perfect for birdwatching. Stop by a local grocery store to pick up picnic supplies or relax at a cozy café for lunch. For those craving more adventure, an extra loop through the delta awaits, offering a chance to explore further. Tonight, unwind at a charming country farm bed and breakfast, where you'll experience the true tranquility of the countryside.

Today, you cycle through an ancient hunting forest once owned by the powerful Este family, adding a touch of history to your journey. On the way, don’t miss the Pomposa Abbey, a stunning stop with centuries of architectural charm. Our destination is Comacchio, a hidden gem once more influential than Venice during the 700s and 800s. This picturesque town, built on 13 islands and surrounded by the Po River and wetlands, still retains its medieval splendor. Explore its quaint canals and visit the fascinating Roman Maritime Museum, where a beautifully displayed Roman boat and its cargo tell stories from the past.

Cycle south through the lush wetlands of the Valley of Comacchio towards Ravenna, the final capital of the Western Roman Empire. Known for its stunning collection of early Christian mosaics, Ravenna boasts more than any other city in Western Europe. Visit Dante's Tomb, and immerse yourself in the vibrant mosaics at San Vitale, Sant'Apollinare Nuovo, and the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia. After exploring these magnificent sites, take a leisurely stroll through this charming city, with our hotel conveniently located just a short walk from all the major attractions.

As you depart Ravenna, make sure to visit the stunning Sant'Apollinare in Classe, a true Byzantine masterpiece. Then, cycle through scenic plains and vibrant fruit plantations as you make your way to Faenza. Arriving in this charming town, you'll check into a beautifully restored convent hotel just a short walk from the central square. Faenza is renowned for its hand-painted ceramics, so be sure to explore the bustling market square, often filled with cyclists of all ages. Don’t miss the International Ceramics Museum and the local artists' studios, where you can admire the town's colorful pottery craftsmanship.

Today, cycle out of Faenza and head toward Brisighella, passing through scenic fruit farms and olive orchards with the majestic Apennine mountains in the distance. For a more relaxing option, you can take a train from Faenza train station over the mountains to Florence.

Option 1: Cycle to Brisighella, explore its charming alleys and hilltop fort, and then ride to Marradi (37 km / 23 miles). From there, catch the train to Florence with your bike (train ticket included).

Option 2: For a longer ride, continue cycling to Borgo San Lorenzo (72 km / 44 miles), or take the full challenge and cycle all the way to Florence (104 km / 64 miles). If you opt for the longer ride, Cycle Europe will transfer your luggage to your Florence hotel.

Alternatively, you can relax and skip the ride entirely, taking the train to Florence from Faenza. The train journey is included in your tour package!
