Spirit Rock Trail Description

While out on the Spirit Rock Trail, you won’t be exposed to much in the way of overly challenging or technical terrain; however, there will still be some uneven ground underfoot that could prove troublesome if you are ill equipped. Be sure to wear proper hiking footwear when setting out on this adventure. Additionally, a fair amount of poison ivy can be found along this route, so make sure to keep an eye on any children or dogs that you may be hiking with to avoid any potentially painful interactions.

Even considering the potential risk of running into some poison ivy, hiking along the Spirit Rock Trail is a great way to spend an afternoon outdoors on the Bruce Peninsula. This trail will allow you to explore the peaceful woodland setting of the Spirit Rock Conservation Area, all while taking in some amazing views overlooking Georgian Bay. Combine that with the laid back nature of the trail and you have a winning recipe for a fun family excursion on the weekend.

Setting out from the parking area, head south through the tree cover for a short distance to pick up the trail, heading to the right to follow it in a southwest direction. Continue along the meandering path through the first for the next 0.7mi and enjoy the beautifully scenic views looking out across the waters of Georgian Bay before descending the hillside slightly to arrive at a junction in the trail.

Head right here to make your way back up the hillside, continuing along the path for another 0.6mi to arrive at the terminus of the trail where it meets Jenny Street. At this point, you can turn back and retrace your steps along the trail to experience a different perspective of the beautiful views that you have already witnessed. After 1.3mi, you will arrive back at the parking area having completed your adventure along the Spirit Rock Trail.
