Coal Miners Lake
Coal Miners Lake is a great half day hike close to Crowsnest, Alberta. The moderate route is excellent for families. It travels through the forest to a subalpine lake, passing through wildflower blooms in the summertime. This is a beautiful way to explore the Crowsnest region without driving too far from town.

Route Description for Coal Miners Lake
Find a dirt ATV road at the end of the approach road to get to Coal Miners Lake. The trail begins on the Mccool Trail which is most commonly used by dirt bikes and ATVs. The trail can be noisy if populated by motorized vehicles. The trail is easy to follow and maintains a gradual grade all the way to the lake. Try to time this hike with wildflower season and you will be pleasantly surprised!
Getting to the Coal Miners Lake Trailhead
To get to Coal Miners Lake, head eastbound on Highway 3 from Crowsnest, Alberta. After passing the Welcome to Alberta sign, take your first right and follow this road to the very end. Your trailhead will be on the left on the Mccool Trail.
