Route Description for Finstock and Wychwood Way Walk
If you are after a laidback adventure with lovely views of the surrounding Cotswolds terrain, then the Finstock and Wychwood Way Walk is sure to be right up your alley. The trail here is fairly flat and only features a few stiles and kissing gates to negotiate, making for an easy afternoon on the trails. Walkers should take note that there is a portion of this trail that utilizes a road, so exercise caution when making your way through that area.
The route sets out from The Plough pub in Finstock, which is a great place for some pre or post-walk refreshments. From here, you will make your way northeast to gently descend the hillside before following the trail south through the tranquil expanse of Topples Wood. After traversing the intermittent farm fields and stretches of forest, you will pass through the village of Wilcote while experiencing some scenic views of its manor house and Saint Peter’s Church. From here, continue south to loop around the wooded landscape of the Coneygar Coppice before turning back to the north to pass through Holly Grove. Continue making your way to the northwest, passing through wonderfully picturesque fields on the return leg of the walk back to Finstock.

Getting to the Finstock and Wychwood Way Walk Trailhead
To reach the trailhead for the Finstock and Wychwood Way Walk from Charlbury, drive south on The Slade/B4022 for 0.8 km and turn right onto Fawler Road, following it for 2.6 km. Make a left here onto School Road and continue on for 0.3 km, keeping straight on Well Hill for another 148 m. Turn left to stay on the same road for another 61 m to arrive at the starting point of the walk at The Plough.
