Although it is technically not within the boundary of The Cotswolds AONB, the Fladbury River Circular Walk is located just barely north of the area and features such beautiful scenery along the banks of the River Avon that it ought to be included here. The only real downside to this walk is that the trail can become quite muddy in the winter and spring seasons, so be sure to pack your wellies if you are planning on exploring this charming route.

While it may only be a short adventure, the Fladbury River Circular Walk offers the chance to explore a charming village and peaceful riverside setting, making it perfectly suited for a leisurely weekend morning on the trails. After meandering the banks of the lovely River Avon, you will cut across the picturesque Worcestershire countryside to arrive in the village of Fladbury, where you can find several pubs to get some refreshments, as well as interesting historical sites if you are wanting to learn a bit about the local area on your adventure. Don’t miss out on this opportunity for a lovely riverside stroll on the edge of The Cotswolds.

Setting out from the car park, head west across the Jubilee Bridge that spans the River Avoin and turn left onto the footpath to cross over a stile. Continue along the banks of the river for the next 1.5 km, enjoying the views of the water on your left and the open farmland on your right before picking up the trail on your right. Continue on until you reach a wide track that runs parallel to the Oxton Ditch and turn left, following it for 0.2 km until you come to a junction. Turn right here and make your way over the ditch, walking along the tree-lined track until it turns into Broadway Lane.

Follow the lane for the next 1.0 km to arrive in the charming village of Fladbury, turning right onto Church Street to head into the centre, where you can explore the various sites and pop into the pub for some mid-walk refreshments if you so wish. Walk southeast along Church Street for 0.5 km and pick up the path on the left, which will lead you to a beautifully scenic lookout over the River Avon and the 18th Century Cropthorne Mill. After taking in the sights, retrace your footsteps to the road and turn left continuing on for 131 m to find another footpath on the left. Take this and follow it past the Fladbury Mill to the banks of the River Avon, which you can use as a guide to bring you back to the Jubilee Bridge where you began the Fladbury River Circular Walk.
