Rippon Tor and Pil Tor Walk
The walk up Rippon Tor and Pil Tor is a fun journey that won’t take you very long, but will produce some amazing views of the surrounding area. While out on the trail, you will climb up the hillside to reach each of these charming summits, gaining a wonderful perspective of the park from an elevated position. While there is a bit of uphill walking on this route, it can still be enjoyed by the whole family.

Route Description for Rippon Tor and Pil Tor Walk
The Rippon Tor and Pil Tor Walk is a great route if you are looking to bag a few tors and gain some scenic views of Dartmoor National Park without encountering too much in the way of difficult or technical terrain. The trail will see you head south and immediately climb up the hillside to reach the summit of Rippon Tor, where you will have some nice views looking out to Saddle Tor and Haytor to the northeast. From here, you will make your way southwest to descend the hillside, before climbing uphill once again along Pil Tor. From here, it is a straight shot to the east along the road to return to the car park.
Getting to the Rippon Tor and Pil Tor Walk Trailhead
To reach the trailhead for the Rippon Tor and Pil Tor Walk from Haytor Vale, head southwest along B3387 for 2.3 km and turn right to enter the car park.
