Located in the southern part of Dartmoor National Park, the Shipley Bridge and Avon Dam Reservoir Walk is a lovely adventure through the rolling green hills and heather-covered moors that can be found in this beautiful area. While out on the trail, you will meander through the countryside on a well-maintained path that runs parallel to the River Avon, passing by the scenic Avon Dam Reservoir in the process. This charming walk is pretty easy and features lovely scenery in every direction, making it a great intermediate length route for the whole family.

Route Description for Shipley Bridge and Avon Dam Reservoir Walk
The Shipley Bridge and Avon Dam Reservoir Walk is a popular trail in the southern portion of Dartmoor National Park, thanks to its beautiful scenery and easy-to-navigate trail. The route follows along the banks of the River Avon, passing by the beautiful rolling hills of the surrounding moorland terrain before arriving at the scenic location of the Avon Dam Reservoir. After taking some time to appreciate the beautiful views and pausing to rest by the water’s edge, simply head back along the same way that you came to relive the walk from the opposite perspective.
Getting to the Shipley Bridge and Avon Dam Reservoir Walk Trailhead
To get to the trailhead for the Shipley Bridge and Avon Dam Reservoir Walk from South Brent, drive north on Station Road for 0.2 km and turn left onto Station Approach, following it for 0.3 km. Turn right here onto Vicarage Road and follow it for 0.3 km before making a left. Continue on for 3.4 km to find the car park on the left.
