    The Bergen Peak via Meadow View Trail is an awesome summit hike located not too far from Denver. Hike through the Elk Meadows and up beneath the coverage of beautiful old-growth pines up to the summit. Those who conquer the trail and summit the peak will be rewarded with expansive vistas of Colorado’s mountainous landscape.

    Route Description for Bergen Peak via Meadow View Trail

    Explore the stunning Colorado wilderness on the Bergen Peak via Meadow View Trail. Incredibly scenic and rewarding, this adventure demands stamina as you hike up the seemingly endless sets of switchbacks to the summit. Note this path presents the optimal viewing experience for grazing elk, enjoy them from a distance but still hear their bulge as you trek. This route is a great introductory hike for those seeking to ease into conquering a Front Range summit trail. Pack plenty of water and charge up that camera because you are going to want to remember this expedition.

    Embark on your hike along the Bergen Peak via Meadow View Trail from the trailhead. From here, track the Meadow View Trail, keeping left at the first intersection. Keep an eye out for wildlife as you hike through the meadowlands. At the next junction, veer left, and you will be diverted onto the Bergen Peak Trail. This section of the hike is steep, but the switchbacks make it easily manageable. Ascend the forested terrain, minding your footing on any loose rocks. Eventually, you will confront another intersection, keep left here and ascend another set of switchbacks.

    Once you navigate the winding path you will be rewarded with epic panoramic views of the Front Range region. On a clear day see Mount Evans and its neighboring peaks in the southwest and enjoy the vistas of the encompassing foothills. Take a break, and when you are ready to descend, simply backtrack along the path all the way to the trailhead.
