Route Description for Genesee Mountain Trail
The stunning scenery and stimulating sights of the Genesee Mountain Trail attract tourists and locals alike, notably for weekend adventures. If you are hoping for a secluded excursion then we urge you to consider an early morning, weekday hike when the crowds are thinner. Short but scenic, this path rewards its conquerors with views of the Front Range snow-dusted peaks and distant sights of the Denver cityscape. This lovely route travels through arid terrain, so be mindful of rattlesnakes in the warmer months!
Embark on your adventure along the Genesee Mountain Trail from the trailhead. From here, track southwest along the Buffalo enclosure. Enjoy the sights of the grazing beasts and at the first junction, keep left. The trail will gradually ascend through the pine woodlands; enjoy the sights peeking through the tree break. Continue hiking and you will have to intersect with Genesee Mountain Road. The path will curve you around the Genesee Mountain summit and the parking lot.
Follow the route around the north side of the mountain where you will be granted views of the cityscape. Ignoring merging paths, continue along the Genesee Mountain Trail all the way back to the trailhead, marking the end of your adventure.
