    Route Description for Sawmill and Belcher Hill Hike

    The Sawmill and Belcher Hill Hike is a popular, one-of-a-kind trail in the White Ranch Open Space. Travel through grassy plains and towering pines as you make your way around the scenic loop. Short, sweet, and scenic, this trail will please all its conquerors. Presenting the perfect excuse to get out into the fresh air, the Sawmill and Belcher Hill Hike is the perfect family-friendly adventure. Hike, bike, walk or snowshoe, this versatile trail exhibits the natural beauty of Colorado. Keep an eye out for grazing deer and elk as you travel through the meadowlands, and in the warmer months, be mindful of rattlesnakes.

    The Sawmill and Belcher Hill Hike departs from the Sawmill Trailhead off the Belcher Hill Road. From here, hike southeast along the Sawmill Trail. This section of the path will guide you through a lush meadow before delivering you to an intersection. At this point, hikers can choose to complete the loop trail from either direction, but we suggest tracking clockwise. Keep left and hike along the semi-shaded path. Soon, you will pass the dispersed campground before confronting another junction. Keep right and you will be diverted onto the Mustang Trail. Trek briefly along this route before merging onto the Belcher Hill Trail.

    Track southeast along this trail, keeping an eye out for grazing wildlife. This path will eventually guide you back to the intersection. From this point, simply retrace your footing along the Sawmill Trail all the way back to the trailhead.
