    Directions to Trailhead

    The East Skyline Trail is a 19.8 km out-and-back hiking route through the forests west of Lightning Lake that will take you on an uphill climb to traverse a ridgeline with amazing views. From here, you will be able to look out over the mountains of E.C. Manning Provincial Park as you traverse the exposed length of the ridge. The initial stretch of this trail is a bit of a grind that can easily be forgotten once you experience the scenic views of the surrounding area.

    Route Description for East Skyline Trail

    The East Skyline Trail is a great out-and-back hiking route in E.C. Manning Provincial Park that will take hikers on an uphill climb through the beautiful woodlands near Lightning Lake, before traversing a more exposed section of trail along a ridgeline. This latter portion of the trail will provide hikers with an amazing view looking out over the rolling hills and rugged mountains of the park, with the Snow Camp and Lone Goat mountains directly ahead along the ridge. After the initial uphill climb along a series of switchbacks, the trail will level out, making for a nice hike along the exposed ridge. This is a good hike to tackle if you are spending the weekend camping near the trailhead at the Lightning Lakes Campground.

    Getting to the East Skyline Trail Trailhead

    To reach the parking area for the East Skyline Trail from Hope, head east on BC-3 E for 60.0 km and make a right turn onto Gibson Pass Road. Stay on Gibson Pass Road for 5.0 km, making a right turn to enter Lightning Lake Campground. Continue on for 500 m and you will arrive at the parking area next to the trailhead.
