The Horner Wood Circular Walk is a fun route in Exmoor National Park that will lead you through a beautiful stretch of woodland terrain for the chance to view local wildlife. While out walking the trail, you will make a descent through the serene forest to Horner prior before climbing uphill to traverse Crawter Hill. There are a few ups and downs along this route; however, it isn’t overly technical or challenging, making it suitable for a wide range of skill levels.
Route Description for Horner Wood Circular Walk
Walking the Horner Wood Circular is a beautiful adventure that will allow you to explore the natural beauty of the woodlands within Exmoor National Park; however, there are a few things that you will need to consider before setting out on your adventure. There are some steep sections of trail along this route, in addition to some areas that can become quite muddy after a good rainfall. Make sure to wear proper walking footwear. Additionally, there is a large volume of intersecting trails along this route that can make navigation a bit tricky at times. Bring a GPS or trail map to stay on the correct paths.
Setting out from the car park, you will head to the north through the forest and work your way past the Jubilee Hut before descending the hillside on the way into Horner. After a quick stop at the Horner Vale Tea Gardens for some refreshments, you will cross over Horner Water and make your way uphill through the forest, following the trail as it turns to the southwest on the ascent of Crawter Hill. After traversing the open moorland terrain of the hilltop, you will turn to the east and head downhill, passing through the forest on the return to the car park.

Getting to the Horner Wood Circular Walk Trailhead
To reach the trailhead for the Horner Wood Circular Walk from Horner, drive east for 1.1 km and turn right onto Crook Horn Hill, following it for 1.0 km. Make a slight right here to arrive at the car park in 113 m.
