Route Description for Lake Solitude via Jenny Lake Trailhead Hike
The Lake Solitude via Jenny Lake Trailhead Hike is a staple adventure in the Grand Teton National Park worth adding to your hiking itinerary. A challenging day hike or epic overnight expedition, this hike features stunning alpine views and a diversity of flora and fauna. Traveling deep into the unspoiled backcountry, make sure someone in your party carries bear spray and knows how to properly use it! Note the Grand Teton National Park charges an entrance fee; refer to the NPS website for additional information.
Once your water bottle is full, and your shoes are laced, you are set to begin your hike along the Lake Solitude via Jenny Lake Trailhead. Setting out from the Exum Trailhead, the path heads westbound before diverting left onto the Jenny Lake Loop Trail. Soon you will reach an intersection with the Jenny Lake Horse Trail, keep left here and venture this route onto the leftmost branch of the South Cascade Creek Trail and onto the Inspiration Point Trail. Beyond Inspiration Point, follow the Cascade Canyon Trail, which remains very level as it meanders beside Cascade Creek.
When you ultimately reach the Cascade Canyon fork. Turn right up the north fork towards Lake Solitude and Paintbrush Divide on the North Fork Cascade Canyon Trail all the way up to Lake Solitude. Revel in the beauty of the impressive mountainscape that surrounds you, then head back the way you came to the Hidden Falls intersection; here, track the South Cascade Creek Trail east. At the route’s end, turn right onto the Jenny Lake Loop Trail and follow this route back to the trailhead.
