Along the Schwarbacher’s Landing Trail, hikers will have incredible views of the Tetons. This area is one of the most photographed spots in the Park.

    Route Description for Schwabacher’s Landing Trail

    Schwabacher’s Landing is a scenic route in Grand Teton National Park. Fair warning, this trail gets very busy. The views of the Tetons from this trail attract hundreds of tourists from all over the world every season. We recommend heading out on this trail early in the morning to beat the crowds and earn an unobstructed view of the incredible mountains.

    Not only is Schwabacher’s Landing famous for its views, but this hike is also an excellent place to see wildlife. Large mammals, including moose, are often seen wading through the wetlands. Beavers are the main attraction in this area. For the best chance to see beavers at work, head out on this trail early in the morning or at dusk. If you are lucky enough to see wild animals, do not feed them under any circumstances. Always admire wildlife in the Park from a safe and respectful distance.

    To hike Schwabachers Landing, begin at the Schwabacher Trailhead and follow the path northwest for a short distance to what is now becoming oxbow lake in the Snake River.

    Enjoy your time along the water and snap some photos before returning to the trailhead the way you came.

    Schwabachers Landing used to be a popular boat launch for trips along the Snake River. The River has shifted in recent years, and this area is no longer used as a boat launch. This region, however, remains a popular tourist destination. The reflection of the Tetons in the still water at Schwabachers Landing paints a picture of indescribable beauty. It is common to see wedding parties along the Schwabachers Landing Trail taking photos that will last a lifetime.

    Why is it called Schwabachers Landing?

    The origin of the name “Schwabacher” is not certain, but it is widely believed the Schwabacher’s Landing is named after Albert Schwabacher, a ranch owner who ran Lost Creek Ranch back in the 1920s.

    Getting to the Schwabacher’s Landing Trail Trailhead

    From Moose, WY, head northeast on highway 307.4 km for 6.4 km then turn left onto Schwabacher Road. Parking is available down the road on your right. The Schwabacher Trailhead is located at the north end of the parking area.
