Route Description for Murphy Lake Hike
Explore the shoreline of a shimmering lake and revel in the beauty and diversity of the forested foothills that bound the water. Located near Eureka, this pleasant trail is conveniently located but often overlooked—though we hope to change this. Offering wonderful scenery, a variety of flora and fauna, and easy navigation, there is not much more you could ask for! Don’t forget to bring your camera; the scenery is quite photogenic.
Setting out from the trailhead off the parking lot, the Murphy Lake Trail progresses through an area of wetlands, away from the shoreline. Here you may see a moose or waterfowl. Soon the path will near the wooded shoreline. Admire the lush undergrowth that carpets the forest floor and marvel at the beauty of the lake mirroring the verdant foothills.
Once you eventually reach the trail’s end, we encourage you to take the time to appreciate the beauty of the environment. Then, when you are ready, head back the way you came to the trailhead.
