Route Description for Noble Knob Northern Approach

To complete the northern approach to Noble Knob, head right off the parking area on the highway to take Noble Knob Trail south (to your left when looking at the junction from the road).

Continue south along a trail that is sometimes narrow and buggy but never hard to follow. Views peek out along the way. About ⅔ of the way into the hike, a trail on your left heads to George Lake. This isn’t a long detour if you want to take it. If you do, just retrace your steps to the main trail once you’re done admiring the lake.

The last portion of the trail gets steeper, so take your time as you near the top of the knob. When you reach the 4-way junction, take the trail most immediately to your left that heads up the knob. This is the most difficult part and you’ll have much less shade than at the start, but it’s a relatively short sprint to the top.

When you’re ready, retrace your steps to the trailhead. Some hikers also ascend or descend along the northern ridge to save some time, which is safe to do following the trail along the ridgeline.
