Sourdough Mountain Camp via Sourdough Lookout Trail

Sourdough Mountain Camp via Sourdough Lookout Trail is a hard trail in North Cascades National Park. Sourdough Camp is used as both a day trip destination and a backpacking stop. This trail is considered to be hard both for the steepness and for the trail becoming rugged in certain parts.
Look for beautiful wildflowers in the spring.

Route Description for Sourdough Mountain Camp via Sourdough Lookout Trail
Sourdough Mountain Camp via Sourdough Lookout Trail is a must-do despite its difficulty and occasional ruggedness. The wildflowers in spring and the views of the mountains and lakes are worth the work. Poles are a good idea, as is visiting on a clear day if you can.
The start of the hike is brutal, climbing very steeply for the first 4.0 km. Don’t give up! Once you reach the National Recreation Post, the trail evens out a touch. It continues this way until Sourdough Camp, about 5.6 km in. Before you get to camp, the trail gets a bit hard to follow and a bit rugged, so take your time with the last section of the ascent.
At the camp, take a well-earned rest. When you’re ready, retrace your steps back to the trailhead.
