Copper Mound Trail
The hiking route leading up to Copper Mound is a fantastic out-and-back trek into the alpine north of Pemberton. Along this scenic 5.6 km route, you’ll experience beautiful views over Tenquille Lake and pass through charming meadows before climbing uphill to summit the peak. From there, you will have a great sightline over the surrounding mountain peaks that make up the rugged landscape.

Route Description for Copper Mound Trail
The hike up to the summit of Copper Mound is a scenic route that sets out from the picturesque lakeside setting at the Tenquille Lake Recreation Site and passes through a beautiful alpine meadow on the way up the peak. The trail travels south alongside a creek and gradually climbs in elevation before turning sharply to the west on the steep ascent of Copper Mound.
While it’s a bit of a trek initially to reach the Tenquille Lake Recreation Site, once you arrive and set out on the trail leading up to Copper Mound, it’s a wonderful experience. Along the path, you’ll have spectacular views over the surrounding mountains, including Goat Peak and Tenquille Mountain to the southwest. Make sure to bring bear spray, as grizzly and black bears frequently inhabit the area around the lake.
Getting to the Copper Mound Trail Trailhead
To get to the beginning of the trail to Copper Mound from Pemberton, drive north along Pemberton Meadows Rd for 21.6 km and turn right onto Lillooet FSR. Turn left after 1.5 km at the first cross street and continue straight for 7.4 km. The road will veer slightly to the right and continue for 4.3 km, where you will turn right again onto Hurley River FSR. Keep straight for roughly 7.0 km, where you will find a sharp bend in the road. Use the trailhead located on the outside edge of this bend to make the trek into the Tenquille Lake Recreation Site, where you will find the start of the trail to Copper Mound.
