Route Description for Trail 308 Loop
The Trail 308 Loop is a short and sweet hike in the Phoenix Mountain Preserve of Phoenix. Being so accessible from the city and so quick to do, this is an ideal hike for days when you can’t spare much time but still want a rewarding outdoor experience. The view of Lookout Mountain as you hike past its base is definitely a highlight.
This route is short, but it’s rocky and there isn’t any shade. Bring water and consider wearing sturdy boots. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can add the quick scramble to the top of the low peak this trail loops.
From the trailhead in the park, take Trail 308 as it heads northwest. You’ll hike along the southern base of Lookout Mountain, then climb the saddle between Lookout and the peak to the west. From the saddle, head across the southern base of this peak, eventually completing a whole loop of it and returning to the saddle. From the saddle, retrace your steps to the trailhead.
