Route Description for St Catherine’s Hill Walk

The St Catherine’s Hill Walk takes you through the cathedral, ancient city of Winchester, along tranquil meadows and onto St Catherine’s Hill, where you can take in the breathtaking views of the city below. Beginning at Winchester station, head along the path, and you will come to the amazing gates of Winchester College. Continue walking, and you will arrive at the River Itchen, which you will walk along. As you move on, you will come to the wooden steps that will lead you up to St Catherine’s Hill. Take in the amazing views that this area provides, and when you are done, as you walk, you will come across a maze to your left. Keep walking into the woodlands filled with beech trees ahead. Follow the Pilgrim's Trail, and you will pass the Green Man’s pub and some other restaurants. Follow this trail until you arrive back at the station where you began.

Getting to the St Catherine’s Hill Walk Trailhead

To get to St Catherine’s Hill Walk from Aldermaston, head southwest for 0.5 km and continue on A340. Take Red Lane and Welshmans Road to St Catherine's Hill in Mortimer Common, and arrive at your destination in 7.2 km.
