Flat Rock Trail

The Flat Rock Trail is a beautifully scenic hiking route in Umpqua National Forest that leads through a stretch of woodland terrain to a viewpoint. While out on the trail, you will climb uphill through patches of forest and peaceful meadows, eventually arriving at the summit of Flat Rock for sweeping views of the surrounding landscape. Hikers should make sure to wear proper footwear with good support, as this route does feature a bit of a climb up to the scenic overlook.

Route Description for Flat Rock Trail
Featuring a relatively easy to traverse path, a lovely forest setting, and incredible views across the picturesque Oregon landscape, the Flat Rock Trail is an amazing bang-for-your-buck hike, especially if you are camping nearby in the Hemlock Lake Campground.
Setting out from the trailhead on Hemlock Lake Road, you will follow the path as it leads through the forest to the northwest. After passing by Hemlock Lake Campground, the trail will turn to the southwest, passing through a series of meadows and trees as you climb uphill.
Here, you will climb a series of switchbacks and keep right along the trail, pushing up through the forest on the final approach to the summit of Flat Rock for an incredible sightline across the surrounding landscape. After taking in the views, simply head back down along the same path to return to the trailhead.

Getting to the Flat Rock Trail Trailhead
The trailhead for this hike can be found along Hemlock Lake Road, just south of Hemlock Lake Campground.
