The Petrified Tree is a fascinating sight in Yellowstone National Park. This trail is short and may not be a grand adventure, but it is a super cool spot to visit on your trip to the park. To hike to the Petrified Tree, begin at the parking area along Petrified Road and follow the trail northwest for just a few hundred feet to the site of the Petrified Tree.

Unfortunately, other petrified trees in the park were vandalized and even stolen piece by piece, so the National Park Service has taken measures to preserve what is left. Please be respectful of this piece of Natural History so the Petrified Tree can continue to be studied and appreciated by future generations.
