The Kibbie Lake Hike is an amazing adventure through Yosemite’s high country. Wander through lush woodlands adorned with granite domes and over several snowmelt streams to the shimmering lake. Though demanding, the views this trek boasts are well worth the sweat!
Route Description for Kibbie Lake Trail
Immerse yourself in the wilderness along the Kibbie Lake Hike. This epic excursion can be completed as a challenging day-hike or an epic overnight expedition. No matter how you choose to tackle it, this adventure will humble you with its dramatic landscape views. As this path weaves between exposed terrain and shaded forests, we recommend wearing layers and packing sun protection as insurance against changing conditions. Additionally, a pair of comfortable, sturdy footwear makes a world of difference! Note: the National Park charges an entrance fee; refer to the NPS website for additional information.
Embark on your journey along the Kibbie Lake Trail from the Lake Eleanor Trailhead. From here, the path will gradually climb through the picturesque woodlands adorned with granite outcrops. Eventually, you will pass a granite dome that you can climb for an amazing view of the wilderness – it also serves as a great place to sun yourself during a lunch break! As the path nears the lake it will guide you to the shores of the creek where there are a few pools ideal for swimming and cooling off. Enjoy the sights of the shimmering waters bounded by granite bluffs and verdant pines.
When you are ready, head back along the leftmost trail. This path will deliver sporadic sighs of the Sierra Nevada Range before dipping back into the forests to descend towards Eleanor Lake. Note: there will be a few stream crossings to navigate, so take your time! Soon you will be delivered back to the trailhead, marking the end of your adventure.
