Yosemite Hikes

Region in California, United States

Yosemite National Park is one of the world’s most famous mountain parks, and for good reason – it’s magnificent. The park is packed full of incredible hiking trails, so it’s tough to find the 10 best, but we’ve somehow managed!

Yosemite National Park is blessed with many exceptional hiking trails, and we’ve made it easy by selecting the 10 best below:

#1. Panorama Trail (Mist Trail to Panorama Trail to 4-Mile Trail) (23.9km, 1275m, 7-9.5h): This exceptional hike encompasses all that is great in Yosemite, including the stunning Mist Trail past Vernal and Nevada Falls. The Panorama Trail connects to Glacier Point and gives spectacular views in all directions. Heading down by the 6.4km trail provides unparalleled views of Yosemite Falls and the Valley.

#2. Mount Dana (8.6km, 940m, 4.5-6h): We love getting to the summit of Mount Dana! This fun hike gets you up high but without any scrambling. The views from the summit are unbelievable.

#3. Mount Hoffman (10.1km, 630m, 4.5-7h): Another summit, Mount Hoffman was said by John Muir to have the best views in all of Yosemite – we’re inclined to agree. This makes for a magnificent day out, though route finding can be challenging.

#4. Sentinel Dome to Glacier Point (4.6km, 245m, 1.5h): The first time we got to Glacier Point we could hardly believe it – the view is incredible! This hike is a great one-way trail that provides excellent scenery from two iconic parts of Yosemite.

#5. The Mist Trail (13.5km, 685m, 3-6h): The hike up the Mist Trail had us laughing it was so much fun. A hot day made all the mist a real pleasure and the views are jaw dropping!

#6. Yosemite Valley (11.6km, 50m, 1-6h): Many people dismiss walking through the Yosemite Valley, however this trail gives you the time to stop and appreciate the incredible views that you only get a glimpse of from your car.

#7. Clouds Rest (20.3km, 925m, 7-9h): This fun hike brings you to what many believe is the best view of Half Dome in the Valley. We love the trail and it absolutely feels like a real adventure. The only downside is the good cell service at the top, which means there are a lot of people Facetiming friends.

#8. Cathedral Lakes (11.7km, 396m, 3-5h): While the hike up to Cathedral Lakes is only average, the lakes themselves may be the most perfect, spectacular mountain lakes we’ve ever been to. Bring a lunch and plan on spending the day exploring the area.

#9. Lembert Dome (6.5km, 285m, 1.5-2.5h): This hike near Tuolumne Meadows is a great way to get a summit without a long journey. We love the views, though some complain the way up is a bit too steep.

#10. Yosemite Falls (9.6km, 580m, 3-5h): Don’t go to the top, our route takes in the Lower Falls then halfway up to the Upper Falls. This gives you the best views for less effort. A great day out!
