Route Description for Pohono Trail

The Pohono Trail is a great addition to any intrepid adventurer's Yosemite itinerary, just don’t forget to leave a car or arrange for pickup at the trail’s end! Enjoy the quintessential vistas of the National Park’s famous landmarks as you wander through sweet-smelling forests and exposed granite bluffs. Note: sections of the path are quite vertiginous, so mind your footing and wear sturdy footwear. Though this is a manageable day hike, this trek could also be converted into an epic overnight expedition. Pack plenty of water and snacks to stay fueled as you tackle the technical, tiring terrain. The National Park charges an entrance fee; refer to the NPS website for additional information.

Embark on your adventure along the Pohono Hike from the trailhead off Wawona Road. From here, navigate several switchbacks up to Inspiration Point. Revel in the beautiful overlook of the valley and Bridal Veil Falls, before continuing up the vertiginous terrain. Now wandering east, the path will weave between meadowlands and pine forests before reaching Dewey Point. Take a moment to admire the sights of El Capitan and keep on trekking. Let the breathtaking views of the granite oasis motivate you to persist and you will eventually cross over Bridal Veil Creek.

Eventually, you will reach Taft Point and The Fissures, yet another scenic lookout. The path will guide hikers along the base of Sentinel Dome, before reaching the Glacier Point parking lot—marking the end of your exciting excursion.
