    The Bertha Peak Trail will challenge even the hardiest hikers. You’ll gain wonderful lake vistas of Bertha Lake, and your scrambling efforts will be rewarded at Bertha Peak with impressive 360-degree views. Full of switchbacks, cairns, and various rocky terrain, you’ll feel a sense of accomplishment when you reach the peak.

    Route Description for Bertha Peak Trail

    From the parking area, follow the Bertha Lake Trail that will lead you to Bertha Peak. You will hike along the straightforward trail as it switchbacks uphill gaining 500 m to the Bertha Lake campground at roughly 5.0 km. From the campground, hike around the lakeshore for 1.0 km looking for a faint trail to your right. You will begin your scramble section from here.

    You will see some cliff bands next to a grassy area. Begin making your way up to the peak by gaining the rock bands and gullies. This scramble is replete with scree, talus, and boulders. You will gain roughly 700 m from the lake to the peak. Once you reach a comfortable end, you’ll turn around and return the way you came.

    Getting to the Bertha Peak Trail Trailhead

    To get to the Bertha Peak trailhead, you will need to take Evergreen Ave southbound towards the lake. Turn right into the parking area signed for Bertha Lake trail.
