Walk Lithuania’s top holiday destination with a guide or on your own
Lithuania has more to discover than most people know, and the 7-Day Walking Tour of the Curonian Spit allows you either the freedom of a self-guided tour or the structure of a guided tour to see it for yourself. You’ll see firsthand the beauty of the UNESCO-recognized Curonian Spit, flanked by the Baltic Sea and blue lagoons and covered in wide sand dunes and fishing villages.
Explore remote forests, sip coffee in charming cafes, walk the streets of quaint fishing towns, and dip your feet in the welcoming Baltic Sea- all in one tour! With the bright sunshine and big blue sea guiding you, you’ll hike through nature and then soak up the sea and sun with other holidayers in resort towns. This experience is a snapshot of life in a special corner of Lithuania, and you just might not want to leave at the end. Come discover the 7-Day Walking Tour of the Curonian Spit!
Once you arrive in Klaipeda, you’ll be taken to your hotel to settle in. Take a walk around the town or enjoy a welcome drink with your guide if you chose the guided tour.
Begin your adventure with a pickup from the hotel in the morning, heading directly to the old ferry terminal. After a short ferry ride from Klaipeda to Smiltyne, you will walk a loop along the northernmost part of the Curonian Spit. On the way, you’ll pass ethnographic fishermen’s farmsteads and old ships’ grounds as well as the sea museum and aquarium. You will walk on both sides of the Curonian Spit today, seeing both the lagoon coast and the Baltic Sea coast.
After breakfast, drive to Juodkrante for another hiking day. You’ll walk around Amber Bay, learning about the local flora and fauna and seeing the craftsmanship of local artists in the weathervane gallery.
Walk through a glorious old forest, cresting the Hill of Witches to learn about the folklore of this place. Watch for the cormorant colony here- it’s the largest in Europe! In the evening, you can relax at the local beach.
After breakfast, head to the Grey Dunes, hiking another picturesque trail in the Nagliai Nature Reserve. Meander south along the coast of the Curonian lagoon to Preila. Before entering Pervalka village you can have a picnic lunch in front of the smallest lighthouse in Lithuania, which is also one of the most picturesque places in all of the Curonian lagoon area.
Today you’ll walk from Preila to Nida, visiting Vecekrugas, the highest dune in the Curonian Spit, for 360-degree views. Hiking along the undulating hills, you’ll get pretty glimpses of the countryside on each hilltop.
Make sure to stop at the Nida civil airfield where you can walk on a real runway.
For your final walking day, you’ll enjoy the beauty of Nida at a leisurely pace. Visit the town centre, the Parnidis dune, and the stunning lighthouse. When you’re done walking, you’ll be able to lay back by the Baltic Sea and soak up some sun.
Getting up off the sand in Nida is going to be hard, but it’s your final day of the tour. You can opt for a transfer back to Vilnius or Klaipeda or book some additional days here if you’d like more time.

I’ve been using 10A route guides for a while, but had never booked a tour. My wife and I booked a self-guided hike in Greece and were so impressed with how we were able navigate the route without a guide with the detailed and easy to follow itinerary. We enjoy travelling independently, and 10A made that happen.

I’ve adventured around a lot of Canada and the US, but I’ve always wanted to explore other parts of the world. I felt a bit scared before booking my trip to Israel, but my conversations with the team at 10Adventures helped ease any worry. I can’t wait to explore more of the world!

Travel companies have had to go through a lot during the pandemic but 10Adventures were super flexible and accommodating nonetheless. I had to cancel my tour in France due to the pandemic. 10Adventures was great and let me reschedule for a later date!

Whenever I’m looking for my next adventure 10Adventures never fails. Their routes all over England are my main go to for exploring and I have only had great experiences booking both guided and self-guided trips in Europe and South America with them. I am looking into Africa next.

I just got back from backpacking in the Sierra Nevada, and WOW. What an unreal journey! The alpine meadows, waterfalls, and the lakeside camping spot were memorable highlights! I wonder what other tours 10Adventures has to offer. That one went so well that I am now convinced I need to book another!

I'm not a big fan of traveling because of my fear of flying, but my girlfriend convinced me to go on the Aurora Borealis Tour in the Yukon. I will never forget the mesmerizing northern lights. Such a romantic (and cold) getaway. I would highly recommend it.
