Your final stop is at the beaches of the Pacific and Manuel Antonio National Park, where you can swim, kayak and snorkel the day away. Costa Rica Multi-adventure Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive in San Jose

When you arrive in San Jose your transfer will meet you at the airport to take you to the hotel. Once you’re settled you have the evening free to explore the city. Celebrate the start of your trip with dinner at one of San Jose’s excellent restaurants.

Day 2 White Water Rafting in Arenal

If you chose the rental car option, you will pick up your car from the rental agent after you’ve checked out of the hotel. Otherwise, a transfer will meet you in the morning and drive you to the Pacuare River. Spend the morning on an exciting whitewater rafting adventure down the Class II and IV rapids.

Afterward, you can relax at your hotel in Arenal.

Day 3 SUP and Canyoning Adventures

Wake up to the majestic view of the Arenal Volcano on the horizon. After breakfast, you’ll go to Arenal Lake to enjoy a morning of stand-up paddle-boarding. Don’t worry if you’ve never done it, an instructor will be on hand to get you started!

Then in the afternoon, you’ll go on a canyoning excursion where you’ll rappel down gorges and stunning waterfalls.

Day 4 Volcano Views and the Cloud Forest

Take in your last views of the volcano on a boat ride across Arenal Lake. From there you’ll journey into the clouds as you travel to the famous cloud forest of Monteverde. Spend the afternoon enjoying some relaxation in the cooler temperatures of the highlands.

In the evening you’ll go for a night walk in the incredible cloud forest. The self-drive option will drive to Monteverde instead of taking the boat.

Day 5 See Monteverde from the Sky

Today you’ll go on a high-flying excursion through the cloud forest. An aerial tram will take you high into the hills, and then you’ll fly over the rainforest on a zipline course and some hanging bridges.

You’ll have some time in the afternoon to explore on your own and enjoy some downtime at the hotel.

Day 6 Scenic Drive to Manuel Antonio

This morning you’ll take a drive through the rainforest to the Pacific coast. It will be easy to get distracted by the amazing scenery but don’t forget to keep checking the trees for monkeys hanging in the canopy!

Check into your hotel in Manual Antonio and take an evening stroll along the sandy beach to watch the sun go down over the water.

Day 7 Sea Kayaking on the Pacific Ocean

A shuttle will meet you at the hotel in the morning and drive you to the beach for a kayaking tour. During the tour, you’ll be able to swim and snorkel in the beautiful Pacific Ocean. Relax on the golden beach before returning to your hotel.

Day 8 Free Day at the Beach or Rainforest

After all the excitement of your adventures, you’ll appreciate a quiet day at the beach. You have the whole day free to enjoy the sun and sand, or you can visit the Manuel Antonio National Park. There are many wildlife and adventure tours available to book in the area if there’s more you want to see!

Day 9 Return to San Jose

If you booked the self-drive option, you can time the 3-hour drive to San Jose to coincide with your international flight. Otherwise, you’ll take a short flight to the San Jose airport where you can catch your flight home.

This partially-guided adventure tour in Costa Rica is run as a group tour or a private tour based on the class of tour you choose. You can customize your trip based on the accommodation type, also whether you choose shared transfers, private transfers or driving a rental car.

The prices below are per person sharing a double room:

  • Standard tour provides shared transfers, Deluxe and Luxury tours provide private transfers
  • On Standard and Deluxe tours all the activities are shared with other travellers, while Luxury tour provides private activities, except for rafting, which is shared for all categories
