Discover history, culture, landscapes, Bavarian villages as you cycle
This guided E-bike trip from Lake Constance to Lake Tegernsee offers stunning views of the Alps and the Alpine foothills. With panoramic Alpine views from start to finish, picturesque lakes, Bavarian villages and towns, and the fairytale castles of King Ludwig II, the Guided Bavaria Bike Tour is not to be missed. Passing through the rolling hills of the Allgäu, the route leads nicely past the Bad Tölz Brewery, World Heritage church Wieskirche and Benediktbeuern Monastery before it ultimately ends up at spectacular Lake Tegernsee.
Individual arrival in Lindau. At 4 pm, your tour guide will be waiting for you at the Hotel Lindauer Hof, right by the city's harbor basin. After a brief welcome, take a city tour with an expert guide to get a good overview of its history and take advantage of its architectural gems. Lindau is a must-see medieval town! There are arched alleys and lanes, a magnificently painted town hall crowned with stepped gables, and splendidly decorated churches. The port of Lindau is the most important in Bavaria, and a lighthouse and a massive stone lion flank its entrance.
From Lindau, you cycle along the Leiblach river up into the Allgäu. In Genhofen, you can visit the squat Gothic Church of St. Stephen at the foot of the notorious Hahnschenkel, a steep section of the salt road that is difficult for horse-drawn carriages to climb. Luckily you cycle with E-bikes! In the afternoon, take a break in Oberstaufen, embedded in a breathtaking landscape. At Immenstadt, you will have a reserved room with a view of the Great Alpsee. In the evening, you will go to a cozy inn outside Immenstadt.
From Marienplatz, in Immenstadt, you first cycle comfortably along the banks of the Iller. Then, at the foot of the Grünten massif with the 1,730m high Übelhorn, the tour continues uphill to the picturesque banks of the Rottach reservoir, where you’ll take a lunch break at an idyllic spot. In the afternoon, the route leads to Nesselwang via Memersch (the highest point of the cycle tour at 1000m above sea level), Oy -Mittelberg, and Maria Rain. From Nesselwang, it goes through forests and fields, past small villages to Hopferau, with a view of the Zugspitze and the Tannheim mountains.
On today's stage, you can see numerous castles, castle ruins, and palaces on the heights of the Allgäu and Tyrolean mountains throughout the day. From lonely vantage points to the visitor magnet Neuschwanstein, everything is there. Through green farmland, you first reach Speiden with its Mariahilf pilgrimage church, which is well worth seeing. Then, with a view of Germany's highest castle, the Falkenstein ruins, you pass the former Vilsegg fortifications through Tyrol. On the way back to Germany over the "green" border, you will reach the fairytale royal castles of the Bavarian King Ludwig - Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein. Over the Lech Bridge and past the Hopfensee, you cycle back to Hopferau.
After a few kilometers on the bike, you will reach the valley station of the Tegelbergbahn. Park your e-bike and float up to the Tegelberg (1880 m) with a beautiful view of King Ludwig's dream castles. With some luck, you can observe ibexes during a short panoramic hike. Back in the valley, the cycle route leads past the Bannwaldsee on a small side road up into the forest of the Ammergau mountains. Around noon, you will reach the picturesque Wieskirche, a World Heritage Site. Finally, you will reach Bad Kohlgrub at the foot of the Hörnle via the "Königsstraße”.
Freshly recovered this morning, you'll head for Grafenaschau, located on the species-rich Murnauer Moos. Pass the idyllic farming village of Ohlstadt with the Kaulbach villa, which is well worth seeing, and the Schwaiganger stud farm. Take a break in Kochel am See. Afterward, you can visit the Franz Marc Museum and see works of the "Blauer Reiter" by Franz Marc and Wassily Kandinsky. With the Kochelsee behind you, you cycle on to Benediktbeuern. There is a breathtaking view of the Benediktenwand (1,801 m). The Salesians of Don Bosco monastery looks back on more than 1,250 years of history. Part of the monastery is open to the public. Through the former electoral Bavarian court bath Bad Heilbrunn it goes between Blomberg (1,248 m) and Stallauer Weiher to Bad Tölz. You can easily explore the lively market street, winding streets, and historic spa district on foot. Dinner is not included tonight, so you have time to explore the city in the evening and dine wherever you like.
From Bad Tölz, you cycle via Gaißach through the Attenloher Filze to Reichersbeuern. The striking church tower greets you from afar. A special feature is the Reichersbeuern Castle, picturesquely situated on a pond, which served as a film set and today houses a private high school. Shortly before the Tegernsee, the destination of your bike tour, a wonderful descent awaits you. Lastly, you'll take a boat across Lake Tegernsee. Enjoy the views of the lake and the Alps, and reflect on the last few days with a glass of sparkling wine!
The journey ends after a hearty breakfast. Tegernsee is well connected by train; you can reach the main train station in Munich in one hour. Alternatively, you can book the return transfer to Lindau, offered by the tour operator.
This guided tour is always run as a sheduled-departure tour where you would be joining a group, however, if you are willing to travel with your group only, you can inquire for a custom itinerary.

I’ve been using 10Adventures route guides for a while, but had never booked a tour. My wife and I booked a self-guided hike in Greece and were so impressed with how we were able navigate the route without a guide with the detailed and easy to follow itinerary. We enjoy travelling independently, and 10Adventures made that happen.

I’ve adventured around a lot of Canada and the US, but I’ve always wanted to explore other parts of the world. I felt a bit scared before booking my trip to Israel, but my conversations with the team at 10Adventures helped ease any worry. I can’t wait to explore more of the world!

Travel companies have had to go through a lot during the pandemic but 10Adventures were super flexible and accommodating nonetheless. I had to cancel my tour in France due to the pandemic. 10Adventures was great and let me reschedule for a later date!

My wife Sarah and I had a great experience booking our 7-day cycling trip through Portugal via 10Adventures. The communication between us and Nadine leading up the trip was top-notch!

Communicating with 10Adventures feels like talking with a family-run business. I love to explore and travel, and exploring with the comfort of knowing I can talk to the team at 10Adventures with almost immediate feedback helps to ease any stress that comes with adventuring!

Whenever I’m looking for my next adventure 10Adventures never fails. Their routes all over England are my main go to for exploring and I have only had great experiences booking both guided and self-guided trips in Europe and South America with them. I am looking into Africa next.

I just got back from backpacking in the Sierra Nevada, and WOW. What an unreal journey! The alpine meadows, waterfalls, and the lakeside camping spot were memorable highlights! I wonder what other tours 10Adventures has to offer. That one went so well that I am now convinced I need to book another!

I'm not a big fan of traveling because of my fear of flying, but my girlfriend convinced me to go on the Aurora Borealis Tour in the Yukon. I will never forget the mesmerizing northern lights. Such a romantic (and cold) getaway. I would highly recommend it.

Wow! I am so happy with the experience I had with booking through 10Adventures for my tour in Italy! I worked with Nadine and she was super easy-going and helpful when it came to tweaking the itinerary provided on the website. 10/10 would book through 10Adventures again.
