Discover the desert by hiking through Joshua Tree National Park
This guided tour of Joshua Tree National Park spends six amazing days hiking some of the best trails in this fascinating desert park. Each day you’ll visit a different area, so you’ll see all the variety of landscapes and vegetation that the park has to offer.
During this hiking tour, you’ll visit the Wonderland and Cottonwood Spring Region and explore the unique features along the trail. Watch for towering yucca trees, teddy bear cholla (don’t touch!), and maybe even wild burro (donkey)! You’ll also be hiking up some mountains for some excellent panoramic views including Mastodon, Warren, and Ryan Peak.
Wherever you go on the Joshua Tree Hiking Tour, you’ll be accompanied by stunning desert landscape, bright blue skies, and flora and fauna straight out of a Dr. Seuss book. Enjoy!
You’ll meet in Palm Springs and then be shuttled to Joshua Tree National Park. You’ll begin your first hike to Fortynine Palms Oasis. You’ll have an easy climb to a lookout that will give you a great view of Twentynine Palms, which is where you’ll be staying throughout the tour.
Begin your hike on the Boy Scout Trail as it winds through a Joshua Tree forest and offers amazing views of the San Bernardino Mountains. You’re hiking towards the Wonderland area, which is littered with enormous boulders and stone pillars. It might just feel a bit like Mars!
Today begins at the Visitors Center where you’ll start hiking towards Cottonwood Springs. You’ll really give your legs a workout as you hike up to the top of Mastodon Peak, which is considered to be one of the best hikes in the park!
From there you’ll be heading to the Lost Palms Oasis to explore its pools and fan palms. It’s an oasis in every sense!
The Panorama Loop is located in the Canyon area and offers completely different landscape and vegetation for you to explore. During your hike, you’ll have the option to make the scramble to the very top of Warren Peak. It will be worth the extra effort as you’ll have panoramic views of the Little San Bernardino Mountains and Coachella Valley from the summit.
You’ll explore the Mojave area of the park today as you climb Ryan Peak. You won’t have to walk the entire way, as you’ll be dropped off at 4,480 feet, and will only be climbing the final 1000 feet of ascent.
In the afternoon you’ll take an easier trail to the Barker Dam which will still reward you with some dramatic scenery.
This morning the shuttle will drive your group back to Palm Springs and drop you off in the foothills for a final hike. You’ll explore the gorges of Indian Canyons until the afternoon and then return to Palm Springs after lunch.
So long!

I’ve been using 10A route guides for a while, but had never booked a tour. My wife and I booked a self-guided hike in Greece and were so impressed with how we were able navigate the route without a guide with the detailed and easy to follow itinerary. We enjoy travelling independently, and 10A made that happen.

I’ve adventured around a lot of Canada and the US, but I’ve always wanted to explore other parts of the world. I felt a bit scared before booking my trip to Israel, but my conversations with the team at 10Adventures helped ease any worry. I can’t wait to explore more of the world!

Travel companies have had to go through a lot during the pandemic but 10Adventures were super flexible and accommodating nonetheless. I had to cancel my tour in France due to the pandemic. 10Adventures was great and let me reschedule for a later date!

Whenever I’m looking for my next adventure 10Adventures never fails. Their routes all over England are my main go to for exploring and I have only had great experiences booking both guided and self-guided trips in Europe and South America with them. I am looking into Africa next.

I just got back from backpacking in the Sierra Nevada, and WOW. What an unreal journey! The alpine meadows, waterfalls, and the lakeside camping spot were memorable highlights! I wonder what other tours 10Adventures has to offer. That one went so well that I am now convinced I need to book another!

I'm not a big fan of traveling because of my fear of flying, but my girlfriend convinced me to go on the Aurora Borealis Tour in the Yukon. I will never forget the mesmerizing northern lights. Such a romantic (and cold) getaway. I would highly recommend it.
