Begin your journey with a flight from Montreal to Kuujjuaq, then continue with a scenic seaplane ride to the remote and picturesque Inukshuk Lodge.
Upon arrival at the lodges, guests can settle in and unpack. The lodges accommodate double occupancy as well as groups of 3 to 4 people. The itinerary includes a variety of activities over the following days.
Wildlife Observation
The area hosts diverse wildlife, including Arctic foxes and hares, which blend into the rocky terrain, and willow ptarmigan, which mimic the low-lying plants. Birds are abundant, with species like rough-legged hawks, Arctic terns, and black guillemots frequenting the islands. Snowy owls are commonly seen from late July to September, and the area offers excellent opportunities for observing wildlife and photographing unique landscapes.
Icebergs and Pack Ice
Calm conditions on Ungava Bay allow for close observation of pack ice and icebergs during Zodiac excursions. Lunches are sometimes enjoyed on the water near the ice. Encounters with local Inuit hunters and fishers provide insight into traditional practices such as drying Arctic char and mussel gathering. Activities focus on exploring the ice and observing the wildlife that thrives along its edges.
Landscapes
The terrain features rolling hills carved by glaciers, green valleys, and winding rivers leading to the waters of Ungava Bay. Sparse, twisted spruces dot the landscape. The midnight sun casts extended daylight, with minimal darkness, offering an array of colors and shadows across the expansive scenery.
The final day will be dedicated to the return journey, following the same route as the trip in. We will depart from the lodge to Kuujjuaq, then from Kuujjuaq back to Montreal.
