Itinerary for Polar Bear and Tundra Lodge Adventure
Arrive in Winnipeg
When you arrive at the Winnipeg airport, there is a shuttle you can take to your hotel. Tonight, you are free to visit the city of Winnipeg and to make sure your camera batteries are charged for your adventure ahead.
Journey to the North
In the morning, you’ll catch your flight to Churchill, where you’ll be met by your transfer to the Lazy Bear Lodge. Get settled and enjoy your first night in Churchill.
Polar Bear Observation
Enjoy a hearty breakfast, and then you’ll begin your first exploration of the north. Your excursion will be on a specially designed minibus called the Tundra, which has been built to be high off the ground for safety while you observe the bears. An expert naturalist will be at the wheel and teach you about the polar bears and other arctic wildlife like the fox, ptarmigan, and snowy owl.
Dog Sledding and Northern Traditions
This morning, you can go into the town of Churchill to explore and learn about the First Nations and Inuit culture in this community. You can also visit Fort Prince of Whales in Cape Mery, where you can learn about the fur trade at this historic trading post. In the afternoon, you’ll meet with a musher and his team for an exciting dog-sledding excursion.
Look for Polar Bears and Arctic Animals
Today, you’ll take another excursion on the Tundra bus to look for polar bears along the edge of the Hudson Bay. After another amazing wildlife viewing morning, you’ll be driven to the Churchill airport for your flight to Winnipeg. You’ll stay at a convenient airport hotel, but feel free to go into Winnipeg to enjoy your last night in Manitoba.
