Whether you’re an experienced kayaker or a paddling beginner, your guides give you the skills you need to safely explore this magical area. The sheltered sea lochs and the Applecross peninsula are perfect for any level of skill, offering a spectacularly rewarding experience.
Combine paddling with a couple of gentle, easy hikes to breathtaking overlooks. Surround yourself with the endearing local culture and the total package is an unforgettable adventure tour in Scotland. Don’t miss the Scottish Highlands Sea Kayaking tour!
Meet your guide in Inverness and travel to the northwest to the village of Torridon. After a tour briefing and lunch at a local cafe, head to the water for a short tour and an introductory kayaking skills session to prepare for the days ahead. Later in the afternoon, check in to your room at a local inn, settle in, then have dinner together as a group.
Begin the day by practicing the kayaking skills you learned the day before, then building on these skills to make sure you are well prepared for the various journeys to come. With one guide for every four participants, rest assured that you will get plenty of individual coaching. When everyone in the group is ready, take a gentle tour around Loch Shieldaig. Enjoy the beautiful scenery and watch for wildlife during your paddling journey.
Transfer a short distance to the south to the lovely inlet of Loch Kishorn. Test your new skills with a classic sea kayaking journey along the coast. Pass a number of remote bays and explore some wild and unsettled islands. Watch for the chance to spot some rare wildlife that call this area home, including otters, sea eagles, and with some luck even some porpoises or dolphins. Return to the inn to debrief the day and make plans for future kayaking adventures.
On this rest day, allow your body to rest and recover from kayaking. Instead, spend this time exploring more of the northwestern highlands. Transfer from Torridon to Gairloch village, where you can choose to take a light hike with your guide or simply explore the village on your own. There are wonderful beaches here, and many visitors enjoy whale or dolphin watching boat tours (not included). Another option is to remain at the hotel to relax and enjoy the village of Torridon.
Return to the water today, refreshed after the rest day and ready to explore the incredible coastline around the Applecross peninsula. This is sure to be a memorable day as you discover a multitude of impressive coastal features. Return to land for a waterside drink at the Applecross Inn, which is a classic way to end the day exploring this peninsula. Then return to the inn and freshen up for a special meal to celebrate the last night of the tour.
End your incredible Scottish Highlands Sea Kayaking tour with a leisurely breakfast then a short, easy hike to a beautiful overlook. Enjoy incredible views of Loch Maree and the surrounding area as a way to reflect on your tour and say farewell to this spectacular region. Then travel back to Inverness, where you should arrive by late afternoon. Please plan your return travel accordingly.
This guided kayaking tour in Scotland is run as a fixed-departure tour where you’d be joining a group, however, custom private tours can be organized for those willing to travel with their group only (please contact us with your preferred date and the number of people in your group and we will create the itinerary just for you).

I’ve been using 10A route guides for a while, but had never booked a tour. My wife and I booked a self-guided hike in Greece and were so impressed with how we were able navigate the route without a guide with the detailed and easy to follow itinerary. We enjoy travelling independently, and 10A made that happen.

I’ve adventured around a lot of Canada and the US, but I’ve always wanted to explore other parts of the world. I felt a bit scared before booking my trip to Israel, but my conversations with the team at 10Adventures helped ease any worry. I can’t wait to explore more of the world!

Travel companies have had to go through a lot during the pandemic but 10Adventures were super flexible and accommodating nonetheless. I had to cancel my tour in France due to the pandemic. 10Adventures was great and let me reschedule for a later date!

My wife Sarah and I had a great experience booking our 7-day cycling trip through Portugal via 10Adventures. The communication between us and Nadine leading up the trip was top-notch!

Whenever I’m looking for my next adventure 10Adventures never fails. Their routes all over England are my main go to for exploring and I have only had great experiences booking both guided and self-guided trips in Europe and South America with them. I am looking into Africa next.

I just got back from backpacking in the Sierra Nevada, and WOW. What an unreal journey! The alpine meadows, waterfalls, and the lakeside camping spot were memorable highlights! I wonder what other tours 10Adventures has to offer. That one went so well that I am now convinced I need to book another!

I'm not a big fan of traveling because of my fear of flying, but my girlfriend convinced me to go on the Aurora Borealis Tour in the Yukon. I will never forget the mesmerizing northern lights. Such a romantic (and cold) getaway. I would highly recommend it.
