Platåleden- Hållvallens chalet is one of the most beautiful hikes for the ease at which it is done. This hike goes to an open chalet where you can stay overnight with a fireplace. On the way you will go over mires, brooks, mountain restaurant and an outlook tower on the middle of the mountain.

Route Description for Platåleden- Hållvallens chalet
From Ica Ottsjöbua you will go up through a forest with brooks until you come to footbridges over cloudberry mires. This leads you to the mountain restaurant “Platåkåtan” which serves really nice waffles with a stunning view over the mountain “Ottfjället” and the lake.
Behind the house, the road continues along the mountain plateau, along the way be sure to take in the views. If you want to get little higher views you can climb up in the outlook tower which you are going to walk past.
After a while birches welcome you to the tree line to follow the track through the forest. Finally, you will come to an open field where the Hållvallens chalet is located. The chalet is open and here can you find firewood you can use to warm you up if you want to stay overnight.
You can return the way you came, or if you want to continue you can combine this with our third hike on the list - Hållvallen-Ottsjö to make a circuit.

- On the way to the open chalet you can also take a 2.0 km detour to an easy mountain top called “Kläppen”. Just follow the sign “Kläppen”.
Getting to the Platåleden- Hållvallens chalet Trailhead
Go by car or by bus to Ica Ottsjöbua. Take the E14 to Trostebacken, turn onto Byvagen and continue for about 12.0 km while the road turns into Vålådalsvägen. At this point take a right to go to Ottsjobua, you will reach it after 5.0 km. Park in front of the food market ICA Ottsjöbua food market ICA Ottsjöbua
