Chasm View South Rim Lookout Trail

The Chasm View South Rim Lookout Trail is arguably one of the best overlooks in the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. This popular lookout presents dumbfounding views of the steepest cliffs in the Black Canyon. Hike the short path to the overlook and you may even see rock climbers and hikers scaling the north wall.

Route Description for Chasm View South Rim Lookout Trail
The Chasm View South Rim Trail provides unparalleled views of the steep walled canyon below. Hike around the short path down to the fence-guarded viewing area.
Embark on this trail from the Chasm View South Rim Parking Lot. Hike the path northeast down to the lookout point. Appreciate the grandeur of the steep walled gorge and try to spot adventurers scaling the north wall below.
Take photos and bask in the beauty of this geological wonder before returning to the trail. On your return, veer right at the junction. This little offshoot will hook you back on the trail prior to the parking lot.
